About Joe Jordan

Joe's family ran a Bait and Tackle shop in the middle of the city of Columbus, Ohio for almost 50 years.

"I was literally born into the world of fishing." My earliest memories are playing with worms behind the old Bait shop covered in mud and dirt. I literally grew up selling fishing rods and teaching others how and where to fish. I learned from the best. My father was so good that he could tell what River a crawfish came from by its coloring.

I had an older brother who helped to run the shop. He would take me seining all over the State of Ohio for crawfish every summer. I had the opportunity to learn about fishing from its very foundations. I had the chance to pick through the seine and see hellgrammites, stoneflies, darters and minnows in every shape and color imaginable. When I was too young to help pull the seine I had the best baby sitter in the world. A fishing rod and a bucket of craws. I would sit for hours on the banks of the Great Miami, The Scioto and the Blanchard Rivers waiting for a fish to bite.

Our store, Jordan's Baitshop was a family affair. My Sisters, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Brothers, Mother and Father all worked in the shop.

We sold the best bait in town and did our very best to treat everyone that walked through the door just like family. When we went out fishing and had a good day on the water my Mother would fry the fresh caught fish in the back room of the store and give away sandwiches to our customers. I guess that’s where I got the crazy idea to start a fishing show and tell everyone the spots.  I just treat everyone who watches the show like they’re family. No hocus pocus with private lakes and secret spots. Just honest to goodness fishing that anyone can enjoy.

When I graduated from high school I started managing the shop. In the spring and summer I would work the shop and in the fall and winter I would go to College at The best school in the country which just happened to be three miles down the road.  I eventually graduated from The Ohio State University and along the way wrote for two different fishing magazines, did television appearances and even worked for the State of Ohio for a short time but, never ever forgot my dream. To one day become the host of the greatest fishing show ever known. Not because I have the best boats, most expensive equipment or go to the most exotic fishing locations but, because at the end of the day anyone can go to the exact spot were I'm at and catch a fish. I call my show Fishn' with Joe and it's my sincerest effort to teach everyone how and where to fish. You have my word on it.
