Buckeye Lake Fishing Report

June 27, 2008

Written By Joseph Jordan

Jim McKittrick of Millersport Deli & Bait says the warm weather has the catfish on the bite. Numerous catfish in the 1-3 pound range are being caught at various locations all around the lake. Good places to try are Cranberry Marsh, Seller’s Point and Lieb’s Island. Concentrate on areas with deeper water and use baits like nightcrawlers, shad and, soft craws. Fishing at night has become increasingly productive and will become even more productive as air and water temperatures begin to rise. With the rise in temperatures the saugeye and crappie fishing has begun to slow down however, nice size bluegill are still available around Cranberry Marsh. Use crappie minnows, waxworms and bits of nightcrawlers fished near cover in the deepest water available. Be sure to check out the latest Fishn’ with Joe video. Joe interviews bassmaster classic qualifier and Buckeye State angler Charlie Hartley for an in depth conversation on what it takes to become a pro on the Bassmaster tournament circuit.
